Baxall Construction signs onto the Mayfield Community and Health centre project

A Pre-Construction Services Agreement has been signed with Baxall Construction to move the Mayfield Community and Health Centre project forward

Baxall Construction, a UK-based construction company, has signed a Pre-Construction Services Agreement to build a new community hall and health centre.

The project is being undertaken in partnership between Wealden District Council and Mayfield & Five Ashes Parish Council, who own the land the medical centre will be built on.

The purpose-built health centre will include:

  • Four GP consulting rooms
  • Three treatment rooms
  • Patient waiting room
  • Ancillary spaces 

Additionally, the new building will have a multi-purpose community hall comprising of:

  • A community hub
  • Office space and flexible meeting rooms

The aim of the new Mayfield Community and Health centre is to provide the residents of Mayfield and Five Ashes with improved medical and village facilities.

Andrew Cornell, Managing Partner of Ashdown Medical Group, said: "The Partners are delighted to hear extra funding has been awarded in support of the project and ever more hopeful our new surgery is on the horizon, which will secure GP services for many years to come."

An NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board spokesperson said: "This is great news for the residents of Mayfield and Five Ashes. We are pleased to see the project continue to progress and this is another step forward in the further improvement of GP services in the area. The new facility will enable GP practice teams to deliver a higher quality of healthcare in a setting that is equipped for modern medicine which also includes a range of other services for the community."
