NHS organisations are being urged to prepare their submissions for financial support under the third phase of the Public Sector Building Decarbonisation Fund, which launches this autumn.
The scheme supports the aim of reducing emissions from public sector buildings by 75% by 2037, compared to a 2017 baseline, as set out in the 2021 Net Zero and Heat and Buildings strategies.
Phase 3c will provide over £1.425billion of grant funding over the financial years 2022-2023 to 2025-2026.
Applications will be accepted from early autumn and will be delivered through Salix Funding.
Welcoming the news, a spokesman for Schneider Electric said: “The fund offers a major opportunity for healthcare organisations to accelerate their journey towards a greener, more-sustainable future.
“And, with the application window open on a first-come, first-served basis, interested parties are encouraged to act swiftly to secure funding for crucial heat decarbonisation projects.”
Eligible projects include:
- Installation of Heat Pumps: Introducing energy-efficient heat pump systems to replace traditional heating methods
- Use of District Heating Networks: Implementing district heating networks to distribute low-carbon heat to multiple buildings efficiently
- Retrofitting Buildings with Insulation: Enhancing the energy efficiency of existing structures through insulation upgrades
- Development of New Low-Carbon Technologies: Pioneering and deploying innovative technologies that promote sustainability and reduce environmental impact
