Andrew Meiner has been appointed as managing director and chief commercial officer of Silverlink Software, a specialist provider of patient administration systems (PAS) to the NHS.
The move comes as part of the company’s strategy to reinvigorate its position in the NHS and accelerate growth across the UK, with Meiner joining in the newly-created dual role on 17 May.
His appointment follows the retirement of Tim Quainton, who served as managing director between 2009-2021.
Recognising the growing importance of specialist clinical solutions in achieving the NHS Long Term Plan in a post-COVID 19 era, his initial focus will be on reviewing and strengthening Silverlink’s proposition as the leading PAS-only supplier.
In support of the Health Secretary’s recent announcement to create a ‘consistent data platform’; his review will include how the company’s PAS-PCS complements a vendor-neutral approach to clinical data storage, while ensuring it can surpass local NHS needs for patient care.
Matt Hancock’s statement is another clear indicator that the NHS is looking beyond the expensive US ‘mega-suites’ in order to keep pace with the demands of modern, integrated care
And he intends to ensure it is best in class for patient flow, scheduling, user experience, and bi-directional integration with other technology solutions.
As an avid supporter of finding cost-effective ways to help the NHS improve its digital capabilities without having to opt for large ‘rip and replace’ programmes, he will also be exploring a series of industry partnerships.
By considering collaborations with primary, secondary, and community care suppliers; he intends to cement Silverlink’s position as a best-of-breed supplier that can respond to the demands of delivering whole-person care.
He said: “Matt Hancock’s statement is another clear indicator that the NHS is looking beyond the expensive US ‘mega-suites’ in order to keep pace with the demands of modern, integrated care.
Open platforms are a clear evolution from the old best-of-breed strategy and address many of its limitations.
“I will be looking to leverage Silverlink’s unique position as the sole ‘PAS-only’ supplier to the NHS to help organisations build vendor-neutral clinical electronic patient records based upon open standards.
“This will be done safe in the knowledge that innovation is underpinned by the rock-solid, class-leading PCS functionality which has been specifically designed for the NHS.”
Meiner has over 30 years of experience working in healthtech, including his most-recent roles as managing director for Stalis (2014-2020) and Cambio Healthcare Systems (2020-2021).

During this time he was successful in winning and delivering new projects for both organisations, by maintaining and nurturing close stakeholder relationships, both with customers and partners.
He also became involved in progressing the open platforms movement in the NHS and has specialist knowledge in product development, interoperability architecture, and data management.
John Connelly, chairman of Silverlink Software, said: “Tim has done an exceptional job at consolidating Silverlink’s position in the market over the last 12 years.
“We are in the strongest financial position that we have ever been in and have fantastic long-standing relationships with our customers, which is a testament to Tim’s leadership.
“We are delighted that Andrew is joining at such an exciting time, and can utilise his extensive knowledge of the market and specialist technical skills to elevate Silverlink to the next level.
“It’s vital that we continue to adapt to the needs of the NHS and I’m confident that Andrew can deliver this for our customers.”
