Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has introduced 14 new allergens in addition to two new panels to the 3gAllergy allergen menu on the IMMULITE 2000 and IMMULITE 2000 XPi immunoassay systems.
The latest extension means the menu will now offer more than 480 individual allergens.
3gAllergy is a third-generation allergen-specific IgE assay, delivering fast and accurate results to help enhance the quality of care and service provided to the patient. The advanced technology behind the blood test enhances both sensitivity and specificity. The correlation with clinical investigations - patient history, skin test, challenge oral tests - is high, and the specificity of certain allergens is excellent when compared to competitive offerings.
New molecular allergens added to the system include pollen and fruit allergies such as birch pollen; peach; apple and cherry. New specific and mixed panel allergens added to the menu include pacific squid, jack mackerel, salmon roe, alaskan pollock roe, Japanese hop, bamboo shoot, yam, food panel 4 (wheat; corn; rice; sesame and buckwheat), and grass panel 5 (sweet vernal grass; bermuda grass; orchard grass; timothy grass and common reed grass).
Adding 3gAllergy onto the IMMULITE 2000 and IMMULITE 2000 XPi systems can provide an ideal option for the provision of an in-house allergy service. The system is easy-to-use and its fully-automated technology enables consolidation of allergy testing and other immunoassays onto one platform. Easy operation, system reliability and rapid turnaround times are all key to the success of 3gAllergy. A further group of molecular allergens is also due to be released in the near future to include some of the most frequently-requested bee and wasp venom allergens.
“Siemens is committed to enhancing and simplifying allergy diagnosis through the continuous innovation of its extensive test menu,” said Abigail Wynne-Jones, immunoassay product manager at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics.
“The 3gAllergy menu, teamed with the IMMULITE 2000 and IMMULITE 2000 XPi systems, provides highly-responsive functionality designed to streamline workflow, enhance operational efficiency and support improved patient care.”
