Philips develops Europe’s first mobile MRI system with helium-free operations

Health technology expert Philips has developed the first BlueSeal MR mobile unit in Europe

Philips, a health technology company, brings its helium-free BlueSeal magnet technology for MRI to a mobile truck. 

The Philips BlueSeal magnet is the industry's first 1.5T fully sealed magnet, a solution for health systems from helium-related complications. 

According to Philips, MRI scanners equipped with Philips’ BlueSeal magnet technology have saved more than 1.9 million litres of helium since 2018.

Extending this breakthrough technology in a mobile unit means more patients across Europe can be treated.

The BlueSeal MR mobile unit was developed in Europe for Denmark-based Agito Medical Imaging.

Philips will debut this new mobile unit at this year’s European Congress of Radiology in Vienna, Austria.
