O2 Health has announced the appointment of Nikki Flanders as its managing director.
Flanders joins the team having led O2’s 4G LTE strategy, where she developed the overall UK strategy and increased awareness and understanding of 4G LTE, which promises superfast connectivity in 2013.
She has previously worked for Centrica, WHSmith and Marks & Spencer, and also co-founded two health-related charities.
In her new role she will accelerate O2 Health’s growth in the UK health and social care sectors as part of Telefónica Digital, a global business unit of O2’s parent company dedicated to innovating and delivering growth in areas such as eHealth. She replaces Keith Nurcombe, who is pursuing opportunities outside of Telefónica.
On her appointment, Flanders said: “I’m delighted to be joining O2 Health and build on the fantastic work to date. I passionately believe we can make a huge difference to people’s health and care while supporting clinicians and carers through technology innovation. I have first-hand experience of how technology can empower people with health conditions and those who care for them – and have a vision for O2 Health that reflects this.”
Martin Harriman, head of Telefónica Digital UK, added: “We’re very pleased to welcome Nikki to O2 Health and look forward to working with her as she harnesses the company’s technology, know-how, scale and drive to put people at the heart of the care they receive.”
