Agreement will improve patient engagement and staff collaboration to support and enable cost efficiencies

With growing healthcare demand for improved patient services and process efficiency, Unify, formerly known as Siemens Enterprise Communications, has joined with Hospedia, the world’s-leading provider of point-of-care solutions in healthcare, to deliver the UK’s first UC-enabled patient workflow.

The partnership supports recent research by Deloitte that states electronic clinical workflow could save trusts between £2m and £4m per year.

Under the partnership, Hospedia will integrate Unify’s OpenScape voice and UC solutions into its Patient Flow Management system, ExtraMed, and its Clinical Access applications at the bedside, providing a complete end-to-end healthcare portfolio for both private and public health organisations. The workflow removes manual whiteboarding, gives electronic means of tracking patient care, and provides an audit trail in real-time.

Through greater communication, patients will benefit from accelerated diagnosis and decisions and we are now ideally positioned to deliver services that will really make a difference

Hospitals can streamline business processes and support mobile staff by having full visibility of all employees’ presence and preferred method of contact, making it possible to reach out to colleagues, experts or access translator services via Hospedia’s bedside terminal, saving time and additional costs. This will improve patient care while making the admission and discharge process more efficient. With greater access to team members and patient information, medical staff can make quicker decisions directly at the bedside.

Ben Packman, Hospedia’s strategic development director, said: “We are committed to improving patient care through efficient processes. The partnership with Unify complements our existing workflow applications as we continue to support patients, improve care quality and further streamline critical workflows. The technology and approach will allow healthcare organisations to transform and support new ways to work.”

George Aristidou, public sector sales director at Unify, added: “The strategic agreement with Hospedia will enable healthcare organisations worldwide to implement this exciting technology breakthrough and achieve greater patient engagement and care.

The UC-enabled workflow will improve collaboration between staff within and across different organisations, and will increase efficiency of employees, regardless of their location. Through greater communication, patients will benefit from accelerated diagnosis and decisions and we are now ideally positioned to deliver services that will really make a difference.”
