Lucy Symons-Jones joins ETL as sustainability director

Appointment boosts consultancy’s growing team to over 90

ETL has welcomed Lucy Symons-Jones to the multi-disciplinary consultancy this week as it continues to grow and extend its offering.

Joining the ETL team from the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE), where she headed the external affairs team, Symons-Jones brings with her fresh, sector-wide insights to contribute to net-zero market opportunities which have high potential for growth.

An important aspect of her role is to also embed and integrate sustainability thinking across all ETL services.

She will be leading the sustainability team to meet the urgent political and social agenda, and the drive to net-carbon zero.

Working across ETL, she will bring her indepth knowledge and industry expertise to help clients develop strategies that include net-zero planning.

This involves developing efficient procurement routes for clients who need access to the latest green technologies and make sure stakeholders in NHS trusts and other organisations are ‘thinking green’.

This will mean more green planning, more policy development, and getting the business case right so that the savings are more than just Co2.

In her previous roles, she combined her business and public policy expertise to define, design, and implement policy and technology solutions for achieving net zero across different sectors around the world.

On her appointment, Symons-Jones said: “I’m delighted to be joining ETL at this crucial time for the country, as we start to accelerate the net zero transition across public services and the wider economy.

“There’s an enormous amount of work to be done and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

ETL currently manages several client-based sustainability frameworks across a variety of industry sectors and will continue to manage these frameworks on behalf of public sector clients.

Symons-Jones will grow the overall depth and capability across the ETL teams to meet the requirements of clients and will promote and help clients better understand ESG to help justify investment.

Responsibility for the development of future, similar framework opportunities will also fall under her remit.
