Care home provider, The Orders of St John Care Trust, (OSJCT) and construction contractor, Stepnell, have released the first images from Edwardstow Court, a newly-completed, state-of-the-art care centre in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire.
Stepnell has just finished work on the £5.4m ultra-modern facility, which will offer specialist dementia and residential care, welcoming its first residents early next year.
Designed by Hunters architectural practice, the three-storey, 48-bedroom care home features stylish and comfortable modern surroundings arranged in small ‘households’ comprising eight bedrooms.
Each will have its own relaxing and sociable living space including a sitting room, kitchen and dining area.
Among a range of communal facilities for residents are a hair and beauty salon, a shop and a café/tearoom where they can entertain guests.
The care centre’s large single bedrooms all have en-suite shower facilities with assisted bathrooms.
In keeping with its surroundings, the sensitively-designed care home has a traditional Cotswold stone exterior. The roof is partly tiled in natural stone while also incorporating an environmentally-friendly living ‘green roof’ section made of sedum plants which absorb rainwater and provide a habitat for wildlife.
Outside, there is a landscaped and secure sensory garden and communal gardens which can be reached from the café.
Stepnell construction director, Bill Haynes, said: “This is a fantastic development where residents will benefit from the very-best dementia and residential care in a friendly and attractive ‘home from home’ living environment.”
