Home lifts company launch unique wheelchair lift that plugs straight into the wall

Manufactured and supplied in the United Kingdom, the Stiltz Trio Lift is a mobility solution for wheelchair users that enables them to independently move around their home unaided and is an ideal alternative to a stairlift.

Currently, this type of lift is unrivaled on the UK lifts market as it is the only home lift available that does not use hydraulics and is powered by a motor drive system - contained in the lift itself – which has all the mechanics in one place. It is powered by a 13-amp power socket and plugs straight into the wall just like any other household appliance such as a toaster, kettle or microwave.

The Trio is also different as it a ‘real’ through floor lift and uses a unique dual rail system that creates a self-supporting structure with the weight of the lift carried in compression through the rails into the floor of the home. This means minimal building work is required with a typical installation taking around two days.

With an estimated 4.3 million mobility aids users in the UK, wheelchair lifts can enable elderly or disabled people to carry out daily living activities no matter whether they are entirely dependent on a mobility aid or need it for occasional use.

Home lifts can enable them to continue living in their own homes rather than having to move into residential care. Accidents or injuries related to restricted mobility may also be reduced with through floor lifts.

Stairlift users often need assistance getting on and off a device that can sometimes be unreliable or breakdown leaving people unable to travel to all areas of their home. The maintenance costs can also be frequent and high.

Lots of safety features are included with the Trio Lift including top and bottom safety pans. These are designed to ensure that the lift stops working if an object obstructs it during operation. The lift has a weight limiter which if ever exceeded means it will not allow it to travel. Likewise, the out of balance and over speed detection sensors work in a similar way.

The Trio is designed to travel to one floor but multiple lifts can be installed to enable access to higher levels in a home. It is 1044mm wide and 1080mm deep and because of its simple rectangle shape can be fitted almost anywhere in the home. It has a footprint of 0.62m2 – the smallest of any wheelchair lift.

All of Stiltz lifts comply with European safety standards and VAT exemption and Disabled Facilities Grant are available which may help users fund the purchase of a home lift.

Stiltz Lifts Director of Business Development, Lachlan Faulkner, said: “Stiltz wheelchair lifts are the only lifts of their kind available in the UK that can be fitted almost anywhere in the home. The lifts do not use loud or noisy mechanical equipment or require load bearing walls because of its innovative and unique technology.

“The lifts deliver flawless performance and are simple and easy to install in the home with minimal building work required.

“Home lifts are getting increasingly popular in the UK as more and more people are becoming aware that a real through floor lift for the home is a realistic and surprisingly affordable alternative to a stairlift.”
