UK healthcare informatics provider, Epro, has appointed Dr Chandu Wickramarachchi (pictured right) as chief clinical informatics officer (CCIO) in a new position that supports the organisation’s mission to enable clinicians to increase productivity and improve patient outcomes.
As a highly-experienced clinician in multiple specialities, Wickramarachchi has spent the last four years specialising in emergency medicine and is currently a doctor at the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
His wealth of medical experience and insight, combined with his lifelong passion for technology and experience in a number of technology start-ups, will provide Epro with a first-hand understanding of the inner workings, successes, and challenges of today’s healthcare landscape.
And he will combine his work for Epro with his clinical work to solve these challenges, ensuring his ongoing skills in medicine enable him to advise Epro on how to continually adapt to the challenges clinicians are facing.
As Epro’s clinical lead, Wickramarachchi will use his clinical insight and knowledge of the barriers and frustrations that clinicians are facing to input into Epro’s roadmap and development of the technology platform.
As a source of clinical truth for the product team, he will also influence Epro’s strategy and direction and ensure its technology is aligned to meet the changing needs of the NHS, while adhering to key clinical standards, and enable Epro to expand its relationships with current and prospective clients.

In addition, he will also take a lead on establishing a new clinical advisory board that Epro will set up in the coming months.
He said of his new appointment: “I first connected with the Epro team several years ago when I experienced the product myself in a clinical setting and was particularly impressed with what it can achieve; so I am thrilled to now be joining the team and playing a part in the future development of the platform.
