Financial close reached on Oldbury community health scheme

Thumbs-up for £12m health, sports and social care centre


Plans to build a £12m health and social care centre in Oldbury moved a step closer to reality this week when the team behind the project agreed funding for the scheme.

Sandwell LIFT Co has achieved financial close for the Portway Lifestyle Centre project, which will see the development of a new building housing sport, leisure, social care and health facilities including a GP surgery. It is being part funded by a Sport England grant.

Planned for completion in August 2013, it will feature a four-court sports hall, hydrotherapy rehabilitation pool, a climbing wall, dance studio, fitness suite and a full-sized all-weather sports pitch.
