Continuous good news developments for WiFi SPARK and St George’s University Hospitals
Contract extended for further two years
Following a successful five years of service from WiFi SPARK, St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has recently re-signed for a further two years.
In the beginning, WiFi SPARK worked together with St George’s IT Services department to upgrade the necessary IT infrastructure with support from Samuel’s Children’s Charity.
The trust already had an existing Cisco network infrastructure that WiFi SPARK was able to utilise and deploy the SPARK Platform for patient & visitor WiFi. This new network was completely separate to the trust’s clinical network for security purposes.
The latest renewal sees recent developments to the WiFi network including a separate ‘Kidz Zone’ where free, IWF-filtered internet access is provided to paediatric wards. This ensures the trust’s younger patients’ stays are more comfortable and entertaining, as well as safeguarding them from inappropriate websites.
St George's was keen to offer a selection of dedicated areas as free to use, with a one-click log-in feature. This allows users to simply connect to the network, click a button and be granted internet access while maintaining filtering, bandwidth control and compliance.
No trust investment was required for this, allowing zero cost taken from direct patient care.
