Premier Modular, a UK-based offsite construction specialist, and P+HS Architects have partnered to deliver a new modular endoscopy centre at Poole Hospital for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD).
The new facility is part of UHD’s contribution to the national Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) programme, supporting the NHS’s long-term vision for improved diagnostic services across the Integrated Care System.
The three-storey building will significantly expand UHD’s endoscopy services at Poole Hospital.
It includes six procedure rooms, associated clinical support spaces, decontamination units, and education and seminar rooms.

The enhanced facilities aim to increase patient capacity, reduce waiting times, improve patient experience, and support the training of future endoscopy professionals in the region.
David Harris, CEO at Premier Modular, said: “Having a long working partnership with P+HS Architects, it’s great to partner with them on the delivery of the new endoscopy centre.
“Our work for UHD, delivered under the NHS Shared Business Services Modular Buildings framework – recently renewed with our reappointment – demonstrates how this cost-effective procurement route provides rapid access to modular construction solutions that support urgent infrastructure needs.”
P+HS Architects designed the facility with functionality and patient well-being in mind, incorporating carefully planned clinical flows and human-scaled, welcoming interiors.

Public consultation, including input from local residents and interest groups, informed the final layout and aesthetics.

James Almond, Managing Director at P+HS Architects, added: “We’ve brought together complex clinical requirements in a building that still feels warm, human, and therapeutic.
“Our experience in modern methods of construction has enabled us to deliver a bespoke modular design that responds to the site’s challenges and not only works technically, but fits the needs of the people who will use it. It’s fantastic to see the first modules now arriving on site and the building beginning to take shape.”
The development marks a key milestone in the transformation of diagnostic services in Dorset, supporting NHS goals for improved access, earlier diagnosis, and more efficient use of clinical resources.
