Peterborough City Council has granted planning permission for a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Peterborough, marking the start of a significant new healthcare facility for the city.
Construction is scheduled to begin in August, with the centre expected to be fully operational in 2026.
Located on Wellington Street in the heart of Peterborough, the new CDC will offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic services, including CT, MRI, Dexa, X-ray, Ultrasound, and Fibroscan, alongside cardiology and respiratory diagnostics.
The facility is set to play a vital role in improving the delivery of diagnostic testing and reducing patient waiting times for clinical investigations.

Its central location will make it more accessible for local patients, bringing essential healthcare services into the community.
Hannah Coffey, Chief Executive, said: “We are incredibly pleased that planning approval has been granted on this project. As an organisation, we are working tirelessly on reducing diagnostic wait times, and opening the CDC will undoubtedly improve patient experience.
“The recent announcement on the NHS 10 Year Plan highlights the importance of moving diagnostic services out of hospitals and integrating them into local community settings to improve access, speed, and efficiency. So we are thrilled to be one of the new CDCs that will be opening next year and we look forward to seeing the build develop over the coming months.”
