Across the NHS and wider healthcare market, organisations are deploying workforce optimisation platforms, AI‑powered communication tools, electronic patient records, digital patient flow solutions and other innovations designed to improve staff satisfaction, operational efficiency, patient access and outcomes.

Here, Building Better Healthcare rounds up some of the major launches and deployment developments in the health tech sector in the last month.

Workforce and staffing technologies

Workforce digital tool: South West Trust has implemented a fully integrated rostering platform, digital staff bank and an agency management system from Patchwork Health to improve clinician schedule control by allowing them to view rotas, request leave and book shifts via one app, while managers get visibility over all staff.

AI and language communication tools

AI interpreter: Word360 has introduced Wondaa, a healthcare‑centric AI interpreter app offering real‑time, two‑way voice translation in 100+ community languages. 

AI-powered ambient voice technology: University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Group are deploying Accurx Scribe, powered by Tandem, to over 10,000 clinicians. The AI-powered Ambient Voice Technology captures consultations, drafts clinical notes, summaries, and letters. 

Electronic patient records

EPR platform: Altera Digital Health has secured 10‑year contracts with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust to implement its Altera EPR. The unified record system will replace multiple legacy systems with a single, real‑time patient information source, supporting smoother transitions between services and future‑proofing digital care with potential for AI capability embeds.

EPR system for minor injuries: Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has successfully delivered Archie EPR system in partnership with Altera Digital Health to help improve productivity and efficiency using digital technology to enhance patient care.
