Leadership module designed to help save time and money through Lean principles

The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement has announced the launch of a new e-Learning programme to improve organisational efficiencies at leadership level.

The City & Guilds Accredited Productive Leader e-Learning programme will be launched at the Healthcare Innovation Expo at Excel London on 13 and 14 March as part of a joint venture between e-Learning specialist, Virtual College, and the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement.

The NHS Institute for Innovation & Improvement’s Productive Series has already saved the NHS millions of pounds and enabled thousands of hours of staff time to be reinvested into direct patient care. It is hoped this leadership module will ensure efficiency from the top down by giving more time to care and more time to lead through streamlining the way clinical and non-clinical teams work.

The Productive Leader Self-development programme; The Productive Leader Workload Management programme; The Productive Leader Practitioner and The Productive Leader Facilitator are systematic, evidence-based training programmes based on Lean principles, which can help organisations to explore and transform personal, team and organisational activity.

Intended for staff at all levels including chief executives and directors, it will, through structured approaches to common sense practice, instill a culture of improvement, increased productivity and effectiveness throughout an whole organisations.

“The timing couldn’t be better,” explained Charlie Keeney, director of primary care and commissioning and area director for Midlands and East at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement.

“The chance to release significant time in the working week has never been more appealing. Thinking about behaviour, adopting good practice and getting the best out of ourselves and teams are very pertinent.”
