£2m environmentally-friendly development provides modern GP services

Warrington-based healthcare property developer and investor, Assura Group, is due to begin work on its latest project, a £2m medical centre in Maidstone, Kent.

The 12,500sq ft medical centre, comprising a GP surgery and pharmacy, will provide modern premises for the Vine Medical Centre.

The building also incorporates state-of-the-art ‘green’ technology, including pholtovoltaic solar panels, a living wall and a combined heat and power plant.

Simon Gould, development manager at Assura Group, said: “The new development aims to provide a spacious and welcoming environment for both patients and staff. With the GP surgery and pharmacy both in one location, the local community will be provided with a joined-up and efficient medical service, improving local healthcare provision.”

Dr Sugina Hesketh, a GP at the Vine Medical Centre, added: “We are delighted that the construction of our new medical centre is now underway; it will serve 8,700 patients from the local area and will help us to offer first-class services to our patients.”

Jenner (Contractors) is the main building contractor for the project and it was designed by Building Ideas Architects. It is due for completion in spring 2013.
