Assura hands over £4m primary care centre in Solihull

Assura Group has completed building work on the £4m Balsall Common Medical Centre in Solihull.

The 18,200sq ft health centre comprises a GP practice and Lloyds Pharmacy and has been awarded a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certification for sustainability.

Amanda Horley, development manager at Assura Group, said: “With the current demand for the primary care sector to provide a wider service provision, GPs need to feel that they are working in the highest quality healthcare estate possible and centres such as Balsall Common are ideal for this purpose.”

Janet Marston, development manager at Ashley House, which designed and built the scheme on behalf of Assura, added: “We are very proud of the centre. The facilities are state of the art and provide a cohesive medical experience for patients in the area, with a GP practice and pharmacy together in one building.”

The building will also house a community nursing team and an NHS dental surgery.

Joanne Hope, practice manager at Balsall Common, said: “We have been working towards this completion for some time and are excited to officially open. The local community really cares about the new centre and with our new facilities we can continue to offer the consistent quality of care that we are proud of.”
