The care home construction market continues to thrive with news, this week, that work has begun on three new developments for Barchester Healthcare.

Adding to its portfolio of over 200 care homes and six independent hospitals; the company recently broke ground for the first time at three new sites in Solihull, Eastbourne and Sherborne.

The new Solihull home, located at the old Shirley Aquatics site, is under construction by Seddon Construction, and will accommodate 80 people.

Also with 80 beds in the Eastbourne project, under construction by McGoff Construction; and the Sherborne home, located on Bradford Road, is under construction by Acheson Construction and will have 64 beds.

Director of property services at Barchester, Mark Bennett, said: “Each new care home will be a positive addition to the communities we are building in, where we can deliver personalised care for those that need it, and provide employment for those that are passionate about caring for others."

Andy Williams, senior property development manager, added: “We are very excited about the construction of our new care homes. All have their own unique design that suits the surrounding areas, but all share innovative Barchester trademarks that will accommodate our prospective residents, who will be able to enjoy a beautiful home with landscaped outdoor spaces.”

The homes are scheduled to open in October, November and December 2019 and will all provide personalised residential care and specialist dementia care in Barchester’s unique Memory Lane Community.
