Warning over Philips CT scanners

Published: 15-Apr-2011

A Medical Device Alert has been issued amid concerns CT scanners from Philips Healthcare could collapse with patients on the table. The warning from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency covers models Brilliance 6 (Air), 10 (Air), 16 (Air), 16P, 40, 64, Big Bore, iCT and iCT SP following evidence of a failure in the vertical brake hub of the patient support system. The alert advises health organisations using the equipment to identify all affected devices, ensure users are aware of the problem and to contact the manufacturer so that the machines can be repaired.
