Transforming healthcare services in Barnsley

P and HS architects, which specialises in healthcare and residential design projects, provide an update on the construction of a new medical centre in Barnsley

A new medical centre for the Grove Medical Practice is progressing well with the steel frame beginning to shape the new building.

Burleigh Street Medical Centre will replace the Practice’s old, outdated and cramped premises, to transform healthcare services for the local community.

Working closely with GPs and with significant community and stakeholder consultation to finalise the design, planning was granted in September 2016.

The scheme will update local healthcare provision, creating a contemporary, welcoming building with the added convenience of a pharmacy on site.

Patient flow and clear way finding were key considerations and the team worked closely together to ensure that the building would function efficiently as well as providing a therapeutic environment for patients and staff.

Constructed by Tolent, the building is expected to be completed in November 2018.
