Storm water system cuts flood risk

Published: 15-Sep-2011

FLOODING risks have been reduced in Harrogate following the installation of a large storm water storage chamber within the grounds of Harrogate District Hospital. The tank, capable of holding more than 425,000 litres of water, was installed by Yorkshire Water as part of a £120m upgrade of the sewer network and treatment facilities. Angie Gillett, deputy director of planning at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We were happy to work in partnership with Yorkshire Water to enable this work to go ahead, as it will alleviate the flooding experienced by our neighbours as well as on parts of the hospital site."
