Move will help reduce supply chain emissions by 15%

Siemens Hearing Instruments has announced the redesign of its packaging to support the NHS’s commitment to sustainability and carbon reduction.

The fully-recyclable new designs, made specifically for NHS customers, are being introduced from this month and have been produced in an effort to reduce transit carbon footprint and required storage space. As well as reviewing its material sources, the company has also reduced packaging size by a third and the plain black and white cardboard sleeves use less ink than standard packaging and are lighter and thinner.

It is estimated the move will lead to a 15% reduction in carbon footprint.

“Siemens Hearing Instruments is dedicated to promoting green values,” said Mark Laben, product and marketing manager at Siemens Hearing Instruments. “We have completely redesigned the packaging of our NHS products to meet the NHS Supply Chain commitment to sustainability. We are proud to further strengthen our green credentials and are committed to improving environmental sustainability within the audiology solutions industry.”
