Schneider Electric digitises electrical Switchgear with Enerlin‘X Smart Panel to connect buildings and deliver energy savings

Schneider Electric has launched Enerlin’X, the communication system for Smart Panel.

By connecting together the core components of the building infrastructure, energy experts and asset managers can enjoy real-time visibility and control of a building’s power distribution systems to maximise energy efficiency.

Smart Panel links together the electrical protection, command and metering components via the building’s communication network. This information is then safely transmitted across Ethernet and Wi-Fi to Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare cloud services. By connecting all the building’s energy data facilities, energy and asset managers can gain greater insight into significant sources of Information - displayed locally on PC, notebook or tablet.

"With the cost of energy rising and becoming a barrier to growth for many businesses, it has never been so important for energy managers to know what's going on within their building regarding power usage. The Enerlin’X platform does just that," said Gary Buckingham, marketing manager at Schneider Electric.

With the cost of energy rising and becoming a barrier to growth for many businesses, it has never been so important for energy managers to know what's going on within their building regarding power usage

"Buildings consume 40% of the UK’s energy, but it is only with visibility into the energy of everything within a property that we can build a smarter, more-efficient future. However, to do that, you need to measure what you can’t see. It is through innovations such as the Enerlin’X digital system that energy and asset managers are able to make smart energy choices to drive efficiencies via intuitive Smart Panels.”

Providing financial efficiency for asset managers through tested, validated and documented architectures, Enerlin’X is a highly-reliable and efficient electrical distribution system resulting in real time savings. Furthermore, it enables energy managers to run energy efficiency analysis to ensure that their buildings, whether a hospital or an office building are being smart in terms of energy usage.

Through three easy steps, asset managers are able to:

Measure: Grouping most of the electrical protection command and metering components on the Enerlin’X systems, switchboards can become significant sources of data – displayed locally and or remotely via the communication networks

Connect: Using Enerlin’X, energy experts can provide insightful advice based on real-time data of the building, providing visual information on energy inefficiencies. This can be collated from across the building or broken down into specific departments

Save: Critical functions are able to use real-time monitoring and control services on touch screen displays or through a traditional computer or smart device with a web browser. This allows for a clear, simple overview of the energy usage and alarms with a building

By collecting the status, electrical and measurement values of circuit breakers and meters, Enerlin’X provides a simple and reliable link to local displays and web portals across the entire building infrastructure. This provides energy experts and asset managers with complete, real-time access to building data to manage resource usage, regardless of their location.
