The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital NHS Trust (RJAH) has awarded a contract to a local firm to build its new main entrance. Paveaways of Oswestry will carry out the construction of the main entrance, which is due to be completed next spring. The alterations will make it easier to access the hospital, with improved car parking and drop-off points. It will also feature a League of Friends welcome point, coffee shop and retail shop, as well as conference facilities and will be fully integrated into the newly-refurbished outpatient department. David James, RJAH director of operations, said: "Paveaways has completed a number of projects on the site over the years and it is very pleasing that a local firm is undertaking this project." The 10-month project is being managed by the trust's estates department in conjunction with project managers, Capita Symonds. General manager of Paveaways, Steven Owen, said, "We are committed to supporting the local community. Around 75% of the workforce on the construction project live within a 12-mile radius of the hospital and we also source materials from the local area wherever possible."
