Aspen Healthcare\'s Holly House Hospital boasts new outpatient unit, operating suites and diagnostics facility

Holly House Hospital, a private healthcare facility in the heart of Epping Forest, has officially re-opened following a £20m revamp.

Karren Brady, star of The Apprentice and vice chairman of West Ham United Football Club, was the guest of honour at an opening ceremony, as the hospital will treat many of the team’s players, providing diagnostics and scanning facilities.

“Our new purpose-built facility combines the best modern medical care in the best facilities. It is a major boost to the local community as well as our own staff

The redevelopment was commissioned by Aspen Healthcare to increase capacity and improve functionality. This has been achieved through the creation of a large extension to the rear of the site, which is connected to the main building by a dedicated entrance corridor.

The extension includes a basement carpark for staff, an operating suite, an outpatient department, treatment spaces and support accommodation, with a top-floor management suite.

Designed by LSI Architects, the outpatient department comprises 19 premium consulting rooms, four minor treatment rooms, and a dedicated oral surgery dental suite, all located around a contemporary circular reception desk. There are also discreet patient waiting areas throughout the department where patients have views of the surrounding forest, plus a pharmacy for outpatient dispensing.

The outpatient department is accessed through a corridor that also feeds into the hospital's diagnostic centre and physiotherapy and sports clinic, which opened last year. This enables patients to access all outpatient services under one roof.

It has the right staff, the right facilities and it has set the tone for 21st-century healthcare

The development means there is now a total of five operating theatres, including an endoscopy unit, outpatient minor surgery rooms and high dependency facilities, with all types of treatment accommodated, from mole removal to hip replacement. All inpatient bedrooms are private rooms with en-suite facilities.

Phil Bates, director of Holly House Hospital, said: “We are very proud of our unique healthcare facility - there is nothing quite like it in the whole of the London area.

“We pride ourselves on delivering a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment to all our patients and one in which we would be happy to treat our own families.

“Our new purpose-built facility combines the best modern medical care in the best facilities. It is a major boost to the local community as well as our own staff.”

Brady said the improvements would be vital for supporting the club over the coming years. She added: “Holly House is really important to West Ham United Football Club as it provides vital medical expertise to take care of our people.

“Players have all their medical tests here, including MRI scans, and we couldn't make decisions to invest in players, who each represent a multi-million pound investment, without the medical expertise and input of Holly House Hospital. It has the right staff, the right facilities and it has set the tone for 21st-century healthcare.”
