Polyflor vinyl range specified for radiosurgery facility at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham

Polyflor’s smooth vinyl range, Pearlazzo PUR, has been specified and installed in the new Cyberknife Radiosurgery facility at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

One of only six facilities in the UK, the CyberKnife System is the world’s-first and only robotic radiosurgery system designed to treat tumours throughout the body non-invasively.

The £3m device has been purchased through charitable fundraising activities alone. A large donation of around £1m was received from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity generated from the sale of painting by renowned artist, Sir Joshua Reynolds.

Installed by Sheldon Flooring, colours Purple Crush and Lilac Bloom were selected from Pearlazzo’s 24 colour options and used to mark out the path of the machine, creating a safety zone.

Pearlazzo PUR uses distinctive tonal chips and pearlescent flakes which are blended and fused into a solid base colour to create a distinctive decorative finish.

Pearlazzo PUR also features Polyflor’s unique polyurethane reinforcement (PUR) which is cross linked and UV cured for optimum strength. This PUR reinforcement, combined with a superior closed surface finish, facilitates a low-cost, lifetime polish-free maintenance regime, achieving savings of up to 48% compared with standard vinyl flooring. The PUR also significantly reduces chemical usage and water usage is reduced by up to 55% when compared to traditional maintenance procedures.
