Pharmacy completes development of one-stop health and care centre

Thousands of patients are set to benefit from the opening of a new pharmacy, completing a one-stop-shop for health and community services in the heart of east Hull.

Developer, Citycare, started work on the Morrill Street Health Campus in 2013, refurbishing the existing Morrill Street Health Centre and building a new base for New Green Surgery next door.

The surgeries have 12 GPs and 18,000 patients, all of whom can now attend their appointment and walk straight into a LloydsPharmacy on the same site.

Jo Barnes, chief executive of Citycare, said: “When we started work on the health campus, we came up with a solution that would create a fitting environment for health and community services in a one-stop-shop, and the pharmacy is the final piece of the jigsaw.

“The £3.4m Morrill Street health and wellbeing campus underwent a significant refurbishment and a new annex building – the New Green Surgery – was built alongside it.

“The development has also improved the working environment for staff and the pharmacy is a great addition to the campus, creating a modern service hub for the ever-increasing practice population and completing the offering in the transformation of the healthcare estate in the area.”

The whole development has been delivered safely, on time and within budget, with LloydsPharmacy opening on 5 December, followed by the official launch on 10 December.

Work on the £700,000 pharmacy started in July and the pharmaceutical company is relocating to the 150sq m bespoke building, replacing its existing operations in the east of the city.

Customers can also now get a quick and detailed summary of their skin type thanks to an innovative skin analyser at LloydsPharmacy, which uses the latest technology to test skin elasticity and hydration.
