The doors to Grosvenor Manor Care Centre in Chester have been officially opened by one of the care home’s first residents, Margaret Laird.
Laird, who is due to move into Grosvenor Manor in the coming days, was joined by William Jakeman, a New Care resident at Ashlands Manor in Sale; and the Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Razia Daniels, to mark the milestone.
Grosvenor Manor is an 81-bed new-generation care facility which will welcome 10 new residents over the course of the next month or so.
In addition to officially opening Grosvenor Manor by cutting the red ribbon, the Lord Mayor of Chester also received the first-ever tour of the facility.
He said: “I am very impressed by the care home and the team behind it. It has been tastefully decorated and the attention to detail throughout is evident, which really does make a big difference.
“Such a high-quality care facility is a great addition to Chester and I was honoured to have been invited to open Grosvenor Manor, alongside delightful residents.”
Chris McGoff, chief executive of care operator, New Care, which will run the home, added: “We are incredibly proud of the care facility and were delighted to give her a preview tour.
“The cutting of the red ribbon with some of our residents was a truly-memorable way to mark the occasion.”
Grosvenor Manor will offer high-quality, person-centred care, including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care services.
The building features a high-specification finish and is decorated by an interior designer creating stylish-yet-comfortable and practical spaces.
Well-appointed bedrooms benefit from en-suite wetrooms, while the rest of the home offers a variety of communal lounges, dining rooms and secure landscaped gardens. It also offers a host of hotel-style services including fine dining, a hair salon, nail bar, concierge, and a busy and varied programme of activities and events.
