Nine-week construction period climaxes with completion of state-of-the-art new facility

A new 28-bed modular ward is set to open at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.

This is the fourth modular construction project completed for The Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust by MTX and was delivered as part of a fast-track nine-week programme.

The building was created using 24 individual modules, which were delivered within a 16-hour period over a weekend to ensure services at the tight hospital site were not disrupted.

The facility includes six four-bed wards, three single rooms and a procedures room, along with staff rooms, office space and a pantry. The building was finished to a high standard with a state-of-the-art patient entertainment system and staff alarm systems, including patient monitoring and access control.

The new ward is located on an existing hospital carpark and has been linked into the existing hospital street, providing a level access to the new facility.
