Five winners announced at 2016 Medilink North West Awards

Healthcare organisations from across the region have been honoured at the Medilink North West Awards 2016.

The competition celebrates the achievements of healthcare technology and related life sciences companies from across the North West.

Approximately 100 delegates from the sector attended the awards, held at the iconic Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, to find out who the winners were.

Five awards were distributed throughout the afternoon, which was compered by Medilink North West executive, Paul Watt.

The winners of the awards were:

  • The Ward Hadaway Start-Up Award winner – MicroBioSensor
  • The Advance Regulatory Consulting Innovation Award winner – Cardiocity
  • The North West Coast Academic Health Science Network Partnership with the NHS Award winner – Advanced Medical Solutions
  • The UKTI NW Export Achievement Award winner – Vernacare
  • The Enterprise Europe Network Outstanding Achievement Award winner – Healthcare Matters

Winners of the North West Awards are automatically put forward as nominations for the Medilink UK Awards, where they will compete with other organisations from across the UK for the national title. The Medilink UK Awards take place on 20 April at the MedTech Innovation Expo, held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

Kevin Kiely, chief executive of Medilink North West, said: “As ever it has been fantastic to welcome the cream of the North West’s medical devices and life science organisations together for our annual awards ceremony.

“The range of organisations represented at the event, from multi-million pound manufacturers to small start-ups, demonstrates the true excellence embedded within the North West and its ability to serve the needs of both national and international markets.”

Commenting on its award, Emma Sheldon, global marketing director for Vernacare, said: "We are incredibly proud to win this prestigious export award for the second year in a row.

Vernacare won its award for its system of hygienic patient toileting and washing, which is used across healthcare facilities in 48 countries to reduce infection, save nursing time, improve environmental performance, save energy, and reduce costs.
