Wilmslow-based MMC specialist delivers largest flagship project in company history

After what has been an incredibly difficult time for global businesses, MMC healthcare building specialist MTX Contracts Ltd is celebrating a decade of year-on-year growth, with 2021 revenues in excess of £90million.

This year will also see MTX complete a further flagship project. The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, a five-storey CCU, is the largest in the company’s history. This follows the completion of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital project last year, which is one of the most efficient builds, cutting what would have typically been a three-year project into just one, and allowing them to serve as the Nightingale Hospital for the region.

David Hartley, Managing Director at MTX, said: “It’s no surprise that the pandemic saw hardships for multiple businesses. However, in a year that saw increased demand across the healthcare industry, pressures placed on funding and speed of delivery, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) has provided a fast-track solution with minimal disruption.

“We were incredibly lucky and thankful that through flexible working we have not had to furlough any of our team during the pandemic - and more recently - we’ve expanded our workforce to meet the increased demand for the construction of healthcare facilities. We’ve also managed to achieve an accident frequency rate of 0.01%, which is exceptionally low for the industry.”

Wherever possible MTX looks to share its success with others. 78% of turnover is spent with local supply chain partners, and 12% of all profits reinvested into community initiatives.

David added: “We’re honoured to support those we employ and in our local communities and last year we were recognised in The Investors in People 2020 Gold Awards. The projects we work on provide so much value to the communities in which they operate, and we want to reflect that in the work we do and play our role in both the future of our sector and our region.

“We’re constantly on the look out for ways in which we can support others, and we hope that our next decade brings with it as much success. We couldn’t have achieved what we have without the incredible hard work of all our employees and key service providers.”
