Local artists support anniversary at George Eliot

Published: 18-Mar-2011

THE George Eliot Hospital community arts initiative is celebrating its first anniversary. Since its launch more than 100 pieces of artwork and photography have been donated or lent to the hospital by around 20 local artists, art groups and colleges. The latest addition comprises six pictures painted by local artist, Alisha Miller, and using colour to reflect expression and emotion. Co-ordinator, Doreen Sadler, said: "The involvement and enthusiasm from the community in response to this initiative has been overwhelming and the feedback from patients, visitors and staff has been extremely positive. Hospitals are great public gallery spaces for non-art audiences to view and purchase original artwork made by local professional and amateur artists."
