Trust deploys solution in just three days

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has gone live with its new patient administration and electronic patient record system.

The Medway modules, supplied by System C, include Master Patient Index, A&E, inpatients, outpatients, daycare and case note tracking solutions, all provided with an integrated data warehouse and reporting tool. Integration with existing systems at the trust is provided through the Medway Connect integration platform.

Director of strategy and partnerships at Kettering, Mike Smeeton, said: “The migration of around 16 million records, with only 93 records failing to load, from our ICIS PAS and A&E system was conducted overnight from Friday to Saturday. A&E and maternity wards went live on the Saturday evening, with all wards following on Sunday and then outpatient departments from Monday. There was no reduction in hospital activity over this period.”

Paul Richards, managing director and chief operating officer at System C parent company McKesson’s acute systems business unit, added: “This partnership with Kettering underlines McKesson’s commitment to supporting the NHS in developing electronic patient records and demonstrates our belief that information technology has a vital role in delivering higher quality and better value healthcare to the UK population.”
