Development will provide community health services for deprived town

Interserve has won a £10m contract to build a new primary care centre in one of Scotland’s most-deprived areas.

The development at Possilpark in Glasgow will see the construction of a three-storey primary healthcare centre housing four GP practices and office accommodation.

Commissioned by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Glasgow City Community Health Partnerships (CHP) and funded through the Scottish Government’s Primary and Community Care Modernisation Programme , the centre will also feature a dental suite, youth health service, specialist children’s services, physiotherapy clinics and outreach services.

Alex Mackenzie, North West sector director at Glasgow City CHP, said: "NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s commitment to tackling health inequalities in areas of high deprivation and social regeneration is clearly demonstrated with this build.

“This is a significant development for this part of the city in not only improving health and healthcare facilities, but also marks an important step forward in the regeneration of Possilpark.”
