Manufacturer supplies furniture and hoists for St Andrew's Hospice resfurbishment

Creating a home-from-home environment was key during the £9m refurbishment of a Scottish hospice.

St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, had been in dire need of a revamp due to the increased demand for hospice care in the area.

The hospice and JDDK Architects chose Innova Care Concepts to supply and install £269,000 worth of hoists, fitted and loose furniture to make the centre cosy and relaxing for people during some of the most-vulnerable times of their lives.

Joe Hulbert, sales director at Innova, said: “Working on the new St Andrew’s Hospice was truly an honour. It was such a fantastic project and the results are a testament to just how fantastic it is as a hospice.

“We made sure that every single item we provided was perfectly in keeping with their colour palettes and preferences to make it as homely as can be. We handled almost everything – including the curtains and cushions.”

St Andrew’s Hospice also chose Innova because of its unique Integralift hidden hoists. These are patient lifting hoists that fold away into a discreet bedhead cupboard behind the patient and can be brought out whenever needed.

And the new décor and equipment did not go unnotices as the hospice had a surprise inspection merely weeks after re-opening.

The inspectors commented on the positive impact of the refurbishment and the ‘home-from-home’ feel of the hospice.

Rosemary Brolly, ward manager at St Andrew’s, said: “I have had amazing feedback from our patients and visitors to the hospice since we reopened, and they think that the quality and style of our furnishings are like a five-star hotel – this has been said on many occasions.”

Innova supplied a total of 28 Integralift hidden hoists, 30 bespoke bedhead systems, 30 bedside cabinets, 105 made-to-measure wardrobes, three X-Y hoist systems, and various chairs, tables, and soft furnishings.
