Wood-effect floor coverings inspired by nature

Wood-effect flooring from Polyflor’s Forest fx PUR range was used to create an interior inspired by nature for the recently-refurbished Ward 7 Greenlea Oncology Unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The Rustic Oak design from Polyflor’s Forest fx PUR range was fitted throughout the chemotherapy and oncology unit based in Ward 7 of the hospital as part of a £2.2m ward improvement scheme.

More than 150 patients a week are now being treated in the expanded outpatient ward and chemotherapy centre, which includes state-of-the-art equipment and eight clinic rooms.

Polyflor’s durable Forest fx PUR vinyl flooring range is a proven performer in busy healthcare environments as it is designed cope with the practical demands of wards with high levels of foot traffic. The Forest fx collection features 14 realistic wood-effect designs in a sheet format which can be welded at the seams to provide an impervious, hygienic surface that won’t harbour dirt and bacteria. This vinyl floorcovering also includes a cross-linked and UV cured polyurethane reinforcement (PUR) which offers a low cost, polish-free maintenance regime for the lifetime of the flooring.

Jammal Mohammed, project manager at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, said: “We chose this wood-effect design from the Forest fx range and wall artwork featuring beautiful natural scenes to bring a sense of the outdoors into the ward and create a calming, less-clinical atmosphere for our patients when they are receiving treatment.”

The Forest fx flooring collection achieves an individually-certified BRE Global A+ rating in healthcare facilities, which can contribute to BREEAM credits, as can the product’s BES 6001 certification which demonstrates compliance with a recognised responsible sourcing scheme as certified by the BRE. This range also contains recycled material and is 100% recyclable via the Recofloor scheme.
