Elekta unveils plans for new head office in Crawley, West Sussex

Elekta, the world-leading manufacturer of treatment solutions for cancer and brain disorders, has revealed the first pictures of its planned multi-million Centre of Excellence to be built in Crawley, West Sussex.

The Elekta Centre of Excellence will take over two years to build and will provide a campus for 900-plus employees.

The building has been designed by architectural practice, R H Partnership (RHP), and will feature a modern campus with atrium, communal areas, demonstration area, display and lecture facilities.The building will also have an environmental focus, with electrical vehicle charging, cycle parking, extensive landscaping and, energy-saving features to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

Bill Yaeger, executive vice president of Elekta Oncology, said: “Our vision for the building is ambitious, and R H Partnership has interpreted our vision with precision and creativity. You really start to get a sense of what a significant landmark the building will become in Crawley, Gatwick and the West Sussex region.”

The new facility will be built adjacent to the site where the first commercially-produced linear accelerator (LINAC) was invented and manufactured. The Centre of Excellence will be an international hub celebrating Elekta and the town’s contribution to oncology treatment, inspiring healthcare engineering ingenuity and maintaining the momentum of British innovation.
