Capita Symonds begins work on £25m mental health unit

Work on the final phase of the £90m redevelopment of Princess Elizabeth Hospital in Guernsey has started on site.

A team from Capita Symonds’ Southampton Manor Farm office - led by Tim Bartlett - has been employed as building services consultants on all phases of the project since it began in 2002.

The last phase is a £25m redevelopment of the hospital’s mental health unit, which includes improvements to the existing residential and outpatient facilities, plus additional residential facilities that will enable it to provide more extensive care across the island.

The wider redevelopment and refurbishment of the hospital has comprised a number of phases including infrastructure upgrades, refurbishment of clinical areas, new nurses’ accommodation, a new staff accommodation block, a new clinical block; and a new continuing care unit.

Work on Phase 6B is due for completion by the end of 2014.
