Wireless nurse call specialist, Courtney Thorne, has appointed Ian Holtham as the company’s first Head of Research & Development as part of an ambitious growth strategy.

The company has been at the vanguard of wireless nurse call technology for 25 years and its market-leading systems are installed in hospitals and care homes across the UK.

With both healthcare and care environments turning increasingly to the adaptability, ease of installation and data capture capabilities of wireless nurse call, Courtney Thorne has invested significantly in in-house R&D facilities at its Bournemouth HQ and Ian will head up a team of five wireless technology and software specialists.

A member of the IET, Ian has worked in IT-related roles for 30 years, including electronics engineering, hardware development and software architecture. His multi-disciplinary product development experience includes real time and embedded software and larger data-based service systems for multiple users.

He will utilise this knowledge to further develop the flexibility of existing Courtney Thorne systems along with their data capture and analytics capabilities. His remit also includes developing a long-term product strategy and managing implementation of the strategy within the R&D team.

Comments Ian: “Over the past eight years, Courtney Thorne’s managing director, Graham Vickrage, has been the driving force behind product development at the company and the decision to bring on board a dedicated R&D manager indicates a clear focus on investing in new products and technical development.

“This is an ambitious company with an exciting plan. I am looking forward to unveiling new innovations to the marketplace.”
