Rochdale Boroughwide Housing installs Communicall Vi to improve the safety and independence of residents

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) has partnered with Tunstall Healthcare to transform the way in which it cares for residents in its first purpose-built extra care facility in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

RBH wanted to move away from a more-traditional care home set-up at its Hare Hill scheme. It is therefore future-proofing the homes by providing residents with tailored digital solutions designed to give them the opportunity to live safely and securely while retaining their independence.

RBH is rolling out Tunstall’s Communicall Vi to all 43 extra care apartments within the Hare Hill scheme.

The platform is designed to support the concept of safe and independent living by providing residents with access to on-site services, advanced TV door entry systems and 24-hour care and support, in addition to personal iVi intelligent pendants and improved carer-resident communication.

It allows them to live a secure and healthy life with the freedom to adapt their homes as they choose and to meet their individual needs.

Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, cabinet member for adult care at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “This is a defining moment in the way we care for our older residents.

“They can maintain their independence, but still have the reassurance of 24-hour care.

“As a result of the success of the Hare Hill scheme full occupancy was achieved within two months of completion.

“We want to continue to look forward and ensure that our services can adapt to future advancements in technology.”

Kevin Alderson, UK Sales and Marketing Director for Tunstall Healthcare, added: “By investing in technology that is fit for purpose for both the present and the future, we can ensure residents’ needs are met regardless of circumstance or situation.”
