Software-as-a-service solution enables radiologists to review patient notes from any location, on any device

Capita IT and Networks has launched a new software-as-a-service solution enabling radiology consultants to view patients’ medical images and supporting data from any location and on any device.

The announcement furthers Capita’s existing relationship with Nuffield Health, which began in 2013.

ResolutionMD will empower Nuffield Health to share information quickly and accurately, helping better protect patient privacy and minimise delays accessing patient data.

Clinicians will be able to share images with patients and colleagues instantly on portable devices without printing. This eliminates the possibility of misplaced or lost images, frees up staff resources, and removes costs associated with film, chemicals and storage.

Introducing this new service means our clinicians now have secure access to any of the data held within the ICA, regardless of device

ResolutionMD follows a series of services Capita already delivers to Nuffield Health. Its partnership with Insignia Medical Systems provides a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) which is used to store, view, communicate and archive patient medical imaging data, and transfer patients to their next treatment or discharge faster.

A further partnership with Healthcare Software Systems (HSS) delivers an enterprise view of all patient activity via a Radiology Information Management System (CRIS) so Nuffield Health clinicians and consultants can receive, manage and report imaging requests for continuity of care.

A further aspect of the managed service between Capita and BridgeHead Software provides Nuffield Health with long-term image storage via the HealthStore Independent Clinical Archive (ICA), referred to by analysts as a next-generation vendor-neutral archive (VNA).

HealthStore offers a single, standards-based repository for the storing, protecting and sharing of all healthcare information.

Iain Luscombe, national diagnostic imaging manager at Nuffield Health, said: “Introducing this new service means our clinicians now have secure access to any of the data held within the ICA, regardless of device.

“Our consultants and clinicians can provide the efficient diagnoses and resulting treatment for patients, providing better care and achieving improved patient outcomes.

“Patients now have a shorter wait to hear back on imaging results and consultants benefit from an online solution to store and share the images.”

Delivering mobile access to medical imaging is a major step forward for the partnerships, allowing consultants full access to patients’ results and medical history from anywhere they choose

Scott White, client portfolio director at Capita, added: “Capita and its partners have been working closely with Nuffield Health to deliver a managed service across its 31 sites since 2013, creating value by being the single point of contact and taking care of incident, change, problem and event management.

“Delivering mobile access to medical imaging is a major step forward for the partnerships, allowing consultants full access to patients’ results and medical history from anywhere they choose.”
