CME Medical launches BodyGuard ColourVision 545 with intelligent PIAB
Intelligent Programmed Interval Auto Bolus now available on BodyGuard ColourVision 545 Epidural Infusion Pump
CME Medical has announced the launch of the next generation in epidural pain management; the Intelligent Programmed Interval Auto Bolus (PiAB).
This will now be available as standard on the BodyGuard ColourVision 545 Epidural Infusion Pump. The new Intelligent PiAB doses have been designed to deliver optimum pain relief during childbirth to increase patient satisfaction, with limited clinician intervention required.
Healthcare professionals will be invited to a symposium at the British Pain Society Annual Meeting on Thursday 1 May to discuss how the new Intelligent PiAB will revolutionise the patient experience during childbirth as well as significantly improving time efficiencies for the midwifery and wider obstetrics and gynaecology team.
Intelligent PiAB combines the traditional epidural options of Patient Bolus and Auto Bolus and enables the patient to administer their own bolus (PCEA) alongside the auto bolus set in place. This feature of the pump allows the mother to feel in control of her pain management, without the interruptions of clinicians, thus reducing traffic through the patient birthing area.
The protocols for each of these applications can be tailor-made with configureable lockout times from Auto Bolus to Patient Bolus and/or Patient Bolus to Auto Bolus.
CME Medical has focused on increasing each patient’s comfort and satisfaction. Every mother and labour is different,sp on screen-reminders show the patient and medical staff when both Patient and Auto Bolus doses are next available, helping to make informed decisions on the best medication for every patient.
And, with patient safety and comfort in mind, Intelligent PiAB has a bolus speed of up to 1,000ml/hour ensuring a better spread of medication, resulting in improved pain relief and leading to better patient outcomes.
For added safety, it is also possible to monitor real-time in-line pressure and detect potential occlusions early using the bolus rate and actual pressure display on the pump screen while boluses are being delivered.
The automatic bolus rate adjustment will optimise bolus delivery and prevent false occlusion alarms. Patient’s pain can be continually managed throughout interruptions to the protocol using the residual bolus screen. If an Auto Bolus or Patient Bolus is stopped mid-infusion, the pump screen displays what VTBI is remaining with the option to resume or cancel remaining bolus dose.
