Building Better Healthcare Awards announces new categories to reflect COVID-19 efforts

The new awards have been introduced to recognise and reward the global efforts displayed by firms

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted life on a global scale throughout 2020. The response from firms across the healthcare industry was unforeseen.

A number of companies stepped forward with solutions to help address the issues and relieve some of the impact; from the breweries that put their own production on hold to produce and donate hand sanitiser to those developing apps so patients can seek care from their own homes, not forgetting those that contributed to the build of the Nightingale hospitals.

The Building Better Healthcare Awards judging panel has been closely following the work of these companies and has decided to introduce three new awards to appropriately reflect and reward their efforts.

The new award categories are: Best COVID-19 Technology Solution, Best COVID-19 Building Design Project and Best COVID-19 Project Team.

100% of the entry fee across these three new categories will be donated to the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.

The campaign has been put together in liaison with health bodies, NHS Charities Together member charities and national giving platforms.

The money raised will go towards funding grants to help NHS charities support NHS staff, volunteers and patients in ways above and beyond what NHS funding can ordinarily provide, including wellbeing packs and costs associated with travel, parking, accommodation and volunteer expenses.
