On August 31st, BridgeHead Software, the Healthcare Data Management company, will see four of its employees take part in ‘Race the Sun’, an exciting triathlon-style adventure challenge in the Lake District, all in a bid to raise money for charity.

The team of four, consisting of Tony Cotterill, John McCann, David Lane and Gareth Griffiths, are hoping to raise at least £2,500 in personal sponsorship as they embark on their challenge: to cycle approximately 50 miles, hike to the summit of England’s second highest mountain – Helvellyn at 3,116ft (950m) and canoe a 3km course on Lake Thirlmere – starting at sunrise and finishing by sunset – racing the sun! In support, the BridgeHead management team has pledged to match any sponsorship amount raised by the group, doubling the overall donation.

Although a massive personal test for the BridgeHead Software team, it is in aid of a very important cause, Action Medical Research. This is a children's charity dedicated to improving the health of babies and children in the UK and has been behind numerous breakthroughs such as the UK polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, and more recently the fetal heart rate monitor that could help save thousands of at-risk babies.

“We are proud to be raising money for Action Medical Research – they do such a great job of protecting and improving the health of so many children throughout the UK. Without voluntary funding, the organisation would not be here today. Dig deep and keep the team in your thoughts as I am sure we are going to need the support to help us round this challenging course!” comments Tony Cotterill, Chairman and Chief Product Officer, BridgeHead Software.

The charity relies entirely on donations so BridgeHead Software will undertake the gruelling challenge to raise a target of £2,500 to support the charity’s research projects. To back the team and help the charity, please visit - www.action.org.uk/sponsor/bridgehead
