Cook Medical has launched its new Zenith Spiral-Z AAA Iliac Leg Graft. The device, which is used to treat patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) that require graft support in the iliac artery, is engineered specifically for flexibility in the iliac arteries during endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and features a continuous nitinol spiral stent that enhances flexibility and kink resistance compared to previous Zenith iliac legs, Dr John Hardman, consultant radiologist at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, said: "Safely guiding an iliac leg graft into place and ensuring that the graft doesn't kink are some of the challenges faced by surgeons performing EVAR. This new device is engineered to better manage these challenges." Phil Nowell, vice president of Cook Medical's aortic intervention division, added: "Our constant mission is to provide physicians with devices that enable better and safer treatment of patients. We think that the introduction of Spiral-Z is a big step forward with this goal in mind."
