Company to install precast concrete units for project in Truro, Cornwall

Bison Manufacturing has been appointed by Churchill Retirement Living to manufacture and install a number of its market leading precast concrete units for use in one of the developer’s latest projects in Truro, Cornwall.

The order will see the delivery of 3,820sq m of flooring units and 22 stair flights to the site.

When complete, the development will provide one and two-bedroom apartments which feature fully-fitted kitchens, a CCTV security entry system, and communal facilities including an owners’ lounge, guest suite and landscaped gardens.

Manufactured to exacting standards, the precast units will provide a number of benefits during both construction and the property’s ongoing use. The patented mechanically-inserted lifting hooks both enhance the efficiency of onsite installation and provide health & safety benefits to the site installation team. Once installed, the precast flooring will form immediate working platforms for follow-on trades, while the precast stairs will give safe, instant access between the buildings’ floors and will provide the development with a fire-resistant escape route.

Mike Nelson, sales and commercial manager at Bison, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded another project by Churchill Retirement Living. Bison has a history of providing its precast units on similar developments and we hope that this continues long into the future.”

Spencer McCarthy, chairman and group managing director at Churchill Retirement Living, added: “Having worked with Bison many times in the past, we are confident in their ability to provide high-quality precast units in line with the project’s construction schedule.”

Building work began in late 2014, with Bison’s deliveries of precast beginning in April this year. The project is scheduled to complete this month.
