Refurbishment doubles existing floor space, improving waiting areas and consulting rooms and creating a new pharmacy

Work has finished on the £1.5m refurbishment of the Queens Park Medical Centre in Stockton.

The investment from Assura Group ensured a state-of-the-art revamp of the premises in addition to a 5,400sq ft two-storey extension. Remodelling of the internal area has doubled the existing floor space to improve both waiting areas and modernise consulting rooms, while works also included the creation of an 800sq ft pharmacy facility, which will be occupied by Norchem.

Crucially, the medical centre remained operational throughout the entirety of the 32-week programme, resulting in minimal disruption to the practice’s patients.

Paul Warwick, project manager at Assura Group, said: “We’re very pleased to have completed the scheme, which will provide revitalised primary care for the residents of Stockton, as well as easy access to pharmacy services within the same space.”

Graham Wynn, practice manager at Queens Park Medical Centre, added: “The newly-extended and refurbished premises will make a tremendous difference to the services we are able to offer our patients and the environment in which they and our staff function. I was particularly pleased with the understanding and accommodating nature of the main and sub contractors who managed to deliver the project with a minimum of disruption while we continued to function."

Tolent was the principal contractor for the project, which was designed by P+HS architects.
