Ahead of the rest - Medstor finishes top of the group and joins NHS SBS

“My experience of the best of the NHS and other health care systems internationally shows that the provision of high quality clinical care and good resource management go hand-in-hand.”
Lord Carter of Coles

In Lord Carter’s 2016 review of operational productivity and performance in hospitals, emphasis was placed on the importance of streamlining and standardising procurement to tackle “unwarranted variation” and in doing so help the NHS to deliver efficiencies. Medstor has long been committed to supporting the NHS to do just this, through providing effective materials management solutions designed to improve stock control and eliminate waste; its recent appointment to the NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) framework will take this commitment to another level. A wider range of trusts than ever before will now be introduced to Medstor and can be confident that the company’s products are not only beautifully designed, but have also passed rigorous and independent assessment in all performance areas. Trusts participating in the NHS SBS Framework include The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

The NHS SBS tender went out on a multi-award platform, encompassing a wide range of products for use across hospital departments. Medstor was awarded a position on the frameworks for ward and bedside furniture, non-medical theatre equipment and HTM 71 cabinets and shelving ranges, where it outperformed all other applicants to finish top of the group. NHS SBS was established to maximise the NHS’s enormous purchasing power, as well as improving quality and patient safety and reducing inefficiencies. Medstor has worked with SBS in Northern Ireland for several years, and its presence on both this and the NHS SBS list of approved suppliers is testament to the company’s investment in developing effective products that meet an identified need, all designed around supporting hospitals as they work to reach the Carter report’s recommendations.

Medstor’s products can be found in hospitals and healthcare facilities across the world, providing successful materials management solutions that combine a modern, stylish aesthetic with outstanding functionality. Whether upgrading storage in a live theatre environment at North Devon District Hospital, transforming a dark, crowded space into an almost unrecognisable light and modern storage area at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, or even working on the world’s first automated CSSD in Copenhagen, Medstor’s commitment to quality, value for money, innovation and delivering a bespoke service that exactly meets customers’ needs, is evident throughout.
